Historical Figure and Academic Letter

Today, Zach had a great presentation at school.  Each of the kids were supposed to dress up as a figure that they admire, either from past or not-so-distant past.  The scientific-minded Zach chose Galileo.  He dressed up, took his telescope to school and presented on the life of the famous astronomer.

Tonight, Kirstyn attended the Castle View academic recognition event at the school.  She received her academic letter for her amazing work this year!  On her transcript, it shows that right now, she is number 1 in her class!  Great work Kirstyn!

Brittany High School Graduation

Today was Brittany’s BIG day!  Graduation from High School!  Grandma and Grandpa Halliday came in late last night to participate in the occasion as well so it was good to see them.

The ceremony was at Red Rocks, an absolutely stunning venue where they hold concerts and all kinds of events.  Kirstyn and Brittany got to play in the symphony for the ceremony as well!  🙂  The talks were awesome, and they had great musical performances by students as well.  Very talented folks!

The ceremony was great, although there were some really stupid people there that brought beach balls and were batting them around.  You’d think that you could expect this of students, but it was the parents who brought them.  🙁  Oh well, some people never grow up!  🙂

After the ceremony, we went out to eat at Sweet Tomatoes.  Good thing we had the graduation ceremony when we did!  Just after it was over, we saw some huge storm clouds rolling in from the west while we were eating!  It then started pouring!  I’m sure the group after us got drenched!  🙂

Service at the Temple

Today we all went up as a ward to the Temple to perform some service.  We pulled up old flowers and got the beds ready for planting.

There were a LOT of flowers that were still really good that they were throwing away, so we got some bags, dug up some of them carefully, and put them in the bags to take home (with permission, of course)!  🙂

When we got home, we planted our new flowers in front of the house and they look really great!  🙂  Ben and Zach had a great time!

Seminary Graduation!

Tonight was Seminary Graduation!  Kirstyn finished up her freshman year, and Brittany graduated with her 4 year certificate.  Both also received the Stake President’s award.

We are so proud of you girls for giving so much to be there every morning so early and to be ready to learn and love the gospel!

Brittany’s LAST Day of High School

Today was Brittany’s LAST day of High School!  She was very excited but also a little sad.  Weird to say, but we were kind-of happy that she was sad because with the move, we weren’t sure she was going to really adjust well and have a great senior year.  She made a lot of friends and it was sad for her to see them one last time for a school day.

Great work Brittany!  You did it!  Next step, walking down the stairs at Red Rocks to get your diploma!  Yea!

Holy Snow in May!

Uh, what just happened?  We woke up this morning and it had snowed about 5-6 inches!  In May?  What is up with that?  Well, we made the best of it, and the boys do what boys do best… went out and played in it until they were frozen solid!  🙂  They build a big snowman and dressed it all up.

Shorts weather yesterday, bundled up today!  If things go like normal, the snow will all be gone in about 2 days.  🙂

Kirstyn Service and Music Awards Ceremony

Today was a busy day!  It started off with Kirstyn and her friends helping haul topsoil for our garden boxes and washing all our cars for the service we bought from them for the gala fundraiser.  They had a great time and we got all our dirt put in and ended up with very clean and nice cars!  🙂

Tonight, Castle View held their Music Awards Ceremony.  Brittany got her pink music cord and other choir and orchestra music awards.

Great job Brittany!  Awesome accomplishments!  Now, on to Graduation!  🙂

Castle View High School VPA Review Concert

Tonight was the annual VPA Review Concert for Brittany and Kirstyn.  All the music groups performed for quite the large audience.  One of the issues at Castle View is that the auditorium is VERY small and won’t even fit the current Freshman class in it.  Because of this, they have to do all these large performances like this one in the gym.  The sound isn’t as good, but it sure is fun to watch and listen to all these groups.

They did such a great job!  It’s always bitter sweet to hear your Senior Daughter’s last concert of High School!  🙁  After the concert we got some shots of the kids together (with Jacob Ramberg and Morgan Holt, both in our Ward)…

Great job girls!  We love hearing you sing and play and can’t wait for more music to come!

Zach AVA Choir Concert

Tonight, Zach had his final AVA concert of the year!  He did a great job as well.  We have to laugh a little as Zach’s voice is changing a bit and he can’t sing quite as high as they want him to so he has to drop down an octave.  🙂  Our little guy’s growing up!

Great job singing this year Zach!  Keep up the great work!

Ben AVA Concert

Ben had his outdoor AVA concert to finish up the year this afternoon.  I took a break from work to go see him perform.  It was really cute and they all had such a fun time singing!

After the concert, they gave the teachers gifts and recognized them for their hard work.  We sure love the teachers at AVA!  They do such a GREAT job!

Great job Ben!  You’re quite the singer!  🙂
