Zach the Entrepreneur!

Zach is coming up on the last day of school and as part of this, they have an entrepreneur day where his class brought in stuff to sell and see how they could do.  He decided to make cupcakes, but not only did he do that, he dressed up in his apron, had a great sales sign, brought the cupcake decorative stands we have, and was really outgoing!  🙂

He ended up coming in second place in his class!  🙂  He was quite the little sales guy.  He was so excited that things went well and he is now trying to make all kinds of things and sell them to us!  🙂  Great job Zach!

Dinner with Family

Today we had my Aunt Anne and Uncle Steve and most of the family come down to dinner today.  They are in the Denver area having a family reunion and wanted to see us.  It was a lot of fun getting to see them.  We hadn’t seen most of them for a LONG time and it was good to catch up and  eat at the same time.  It’s nice that we’re closer to family now so we can get to both families in only 1 day instead of 2 or 3 days!  🙂

Youth Conference and Marching Band Boot Camp

The girls had youth conference (Kirstyn’s first) over the last 2 1/2 days.  They had a blast!  Came home talking like crazy about everything. Kirstyn and Brittany also had Marching Band kick-off and rehearsal for 4 hours on Thursday and Friday.  They had to miss some of youth conference for that, but everything worked out just fine.  They are making some great new friends and having a fun time here.  Brittany told us the other day that she is embracing the move and that it is a good thing for her.  🙂  That made us pretty excited!

George Washington Goes to Clear Sky

Today, Zach gave his year-end report on a famous person he admired.  He has been working on this report for the past month and has been enjoying it very much.  He chose George Washington.  He dressed up like George and gave his report beautifully (from what we heard)!

He gets done with school next week and he is excited but a little sad because he has really enjoyed it and made some friends who he likes to spend time with.  Great job Zach!

Last Day of Middle and High School!

Today was the last day of school for the girls!  They are excited to be out.  They have struggled with the move but have made some good friends and have been having fun as well.  It will take a bit more adjustment, but they’re coming along!  The boys still have another week of school, so the noise level in our house for the summer will be a little less next week.  🙂

Way to go on a strong finish, girls!

Rockies Game with Denver Office

Today the Denver Office had an outing to a Rockies game and so I decided to go and meet some of the Denver office people!  It was a lot of fun.  Fortunately, one other IT person was there so I wasn’t completely alone.  We started off the activity eating Reindeer, Wild Board, and other exotic bratwursts for lunch, and then we headed over to the game.  The office is only a few blocks from the park so we all walked.  It was a GORGEOUS day and it wasn’t too  hot (typical of here)!

We had a great time at the game.  The Rockies played the Arizona Diamondbacks and won 4-1.  They’re doing pretty good this year compared to years before, and everyone’s talking about it.  🙂

Trolley Ride Around Castle Rock

Angela found a fun little free thing for us to do today, so we went to downtown Castle Rock and rode the Castle Rock Town Trolley!  The tour took us around the old/original part of Castle Rock and told us all about the history.  The trolley started a the old train depot which was really cool!

It was a lot of fun and we learned a bunch about the history of where we now live.  By the end, the boys were getting a little restless, so the ride was just the perfect length!  🙂

Last Day of Seminary

Today was Brittany’s last day of Seminary!  She was bummed because she’ll really miss seeing her teacher, Brother Hess, every day.  We really owe a lot to him.  He took Brittany under his wing and made sure she felt accepted and welcome.

Great job on another wonderful year, Brittany!

Kirstyn Band Concert and Music News!

Tonight Kirstyn had the final band concert of the year at the middle school.  Her teacher has been VERY impressed with her (no surprise there considering her talent and the district we just came from)! 🙂  She did a great job playing and she also got a band award with all the other 8th graders for their hard work!

We just found out also from her auditions for the high school band that she is one of only 2 or 3 freshman that was selected to be in Wind Ensemble, the highest audition band at the high school!  What an awesome thing is that!  To be thought so highly of as a freshman is a huge accomplishment!  From what we hear, that rarely happens at Castle View High School!

Brittany found out the results of her auditions as well!  She made it into Chamber Strings, the highest orchestra at the high school!  She is only 1 of 17 in Chamber Strings, and for a newcomer, that is absolutely phenomenal!  They see a ton of potential in her as well!

In addition to band and orchestra, Kirstyn made it into the audition freshman choir, and Brittany made it into Versailles, the audition women’s choir.  They are both excited, having not participated in choir in high school before.  They both have great voices and we love to hear them sing!

Great job girls!

Young Women Fundraiser

Today, the girls went to the church and spent all morning making hundreds of cinnamon rolls for a young women fundraiser for camp.  We bought 6 dozen from them, which we put in the freezer and will enjoy a TON for the weeks to come (if we can make them last that long)!  🙂

Can’t wait to eat them!  When we went to pick them up, all we saw in the gym at the church were a whole bunch of flower and frosting-covered leaders and kids!  GREAT job girls!
