A Taste of the Arts…
Today we attended the District 204 Fine Arts Festival at Waubonsie High School. We were there for much of the day as all three girls had displays and performances. Sarah played the flute and piccolo with the band and did very well. Her band teacher asked her if she would learn to play the piccolo (not much different than the flute) and Sarah picked this up easily! Brittany had 2 performances: She played her violin with the orchestra and sang with the chorus. She sounded great as well! Kirstyn sang with her elementary school choir and had 2 items on display (a mosaic and a sculpture). She was very happy to be there. GO GIRLS!
It really is amazing how much fine art talent is in our district. This past year, Waubonsie High School was awarded a Grammy by the Grammy Foundation which means it is in the top music education programs in the country! In 2006 it was awarded Gold status meaning it was in the top 3 schools. I guess now Sarah can say she has won a Grammy! 🙂 Between the two high schools in the district, they have been recognized by the Grammy Foundation 14 times!
