Drive in the Mountains

Today, while Grandma and Grandpa Halliday were in town, we took them for a drive up into the mountains to enjoy the scenery.  Unfortunately, Brittany had to work so she couldn’t come.  🙁  We drove up and around near Mount Evans and got some pretty pictures and enjoyed the cool weather.  We thought about driving up Mount Evans but the weather didn’t look too good and at 12,000 feet, Zach started to feel a little light-headed.

After Mount Evans, we drove over to Buffalo Bill’s grave.  The views there are great also!

It’s SO great to live in an area of the country that’s so beautiful wherever you go!  🙂

Holy Snow in May!

Uh, what just happened?  We woke up this morning and it had snowed about 5-6 inches!  In May?  What is up with that?  Well, we made the best of it, and the boys do what boys do best… went out and played in it until they were frozen solid!  🙂  They build a big snowman and dressed it all up.

Shorts weather yesterday, bundled up today!  If things go like normal, the snow will all be gone in about 2 days.  🙂

Happy Anniversary and Baby Blessing!

Happy 23 years Angela!  What wonderful ones they have been!  Today we celebrated by going to Greeley where Jim and Heather blessed their baby along with Heather’s sister’s baby.

We had a fun time and ended up staying for the dinner afterward.  They brought in a big military truck and gave the kids a ride around the neighborhood in it.

Unfortunately, Brittany had to work, so she wasn’t able to come with us.  We missed her.  Congrats Jim and Heather!

We Finished the Loft!

Zach and I finished the loft in the garage we started building!  We had a great time together building it and it turned out great!

Zach learned a lot of things about measuring, cutting, support beams, etc.  He and Ben are looking forward to many great hours playing up there.  They already have plans for decorations and furniture up there!  🙂

AMI Sunday Morning

Angela went down for a service at Garden of the Gods for AMI.  I was really peaceful and at some little chapel that AMI has there.

She brought Kathryn Holyoak by on the way to take her to the airport.  The boys were really excited to see her.  🙂  They ran up and gave her huge hugs!   She wasn’t sure that they would really remember her, but they sure did!  🙂

Busy Prom Saturday

VERY busy day today!  Tonight, Brittany went to Castle View’s Prom with Austin.  They doubled with Sierra and  Dallin.  Before that we hurried and went over to Andrew Ahlstrom’s open house for his mission.  The Ahlstrom’s are friends of ours and she is in the Stake Relief Society Presidency with Angela.  This morning, Kirstyn and Angela had a young women’s service project (Project Recycle).  Zach and I started building a loft in the garage as a play place for the boys.

Brittany had a GREAT time at the prom.  They all looked so good and we took a ton of pictures of them.

The after-prom party was pretty cool as well.   They rented out an entire fun center with ice skating, broom hockey, all kinds of activities and tons of food!  I went and helped out from 11:00 to 3:30am.  I got home at about 3:45 and crashed.  🙂

AMI Convention – Angela

Angela went to the national American Mothers (AMI) convention today.  It was a great experience for her.  She got to see Kathryn Holyoak there which was fun.  Kathryn is the Mother of the Year from Illinois this year.

The downer about going was that she was nominated to be on the national board and someone poo-pooed it because she doesn’t live in the area they wanted her to represent (which hasn’t happened before).  We have our ideas why but won’t go into it.  🙂

Great Easter Weekend!

We had a GREAT Easter weekend this weekend!  Saturday we had our Easter egg hunt and then spent some time coloring eggs.  The boys and Kirstyn especially had fun doing this…

Sunday we had a great Easter sacrament meeting.  When we got home, we took pictures of the kids and the boys looked REALLY cute in their new Easter outfits.  🙂

We missed having Sarah with us for the pictures, but we have some great shots of her so you can check them out on http://sisterhalliday.blogspot.com.

Castle Rock Stake Women’s Conference

Today the Stake held an incredible Women’s Conference that Angela and the Stake RS Presidency put on.  I went to help serve the food and clean up.  It was amazing how much work went into this conference and how many people were involved in making this a success.  Great job Angela and all!

Tonight we had a BBQ at the Liddell’s with the Bird’s and the Pocock’s.  It was great to have the Bird’s there and reminded us so much of all those old times in Naperville! Great food, great friends, and fun!

Julia Liddell brought her boyfriend (soon to be fiancee’) home and we all grilled him.  He seems like a really great guy and we’re really excited for Julia and her future.  🙂

Veggie Tales Party

While I was gone to the Priesthood Session of General  Conference, Angela threw a Veggie Tales party that she had won on-line.  It was pretty funny to see how much fun the kids had…

Angela got all kinds of stuff in the mail for this party along with the video.  There were masks, posters, coupons, coloring books and much more.  They had a blast!   Great job Angela!  🙂

Garden of the Gods

Today we decided to take a family trip down to Garden of the Gods (by Colorado Springs and Pike’s Peak).  Brittany had to work so she wasn’t able to come with us.  We took a picnic lunch down there and really enjoyed ourselves.  It was pretty busy, so we had to eat our picnic in one of the parking lots by the van.  We had a laugh about it but it was still fun!

We then went hiking all over the area, looking at the beautiful rock formations and enjoying the wonderful afternoon!

There were a lot of people rock climbing down here today as well.  Some of the places that they were hiking looked pretty scary…

What a great time we had today!  We love going places like this as a family (well, at least most of the time).  We enjoy being outdoors and being in nature.  We’re looking forward to many more experiences like that!
