Zach’s First Student Council Meeting

Zach had his first Student Council meeting since being elected class representative.  He was so excited to go and really participate in Student Government.  He said he can’t wait to make some changes that will be good for the school.  What the little politician!  🙂  Have fun and make a difference Zach!

Marching Band Banquet

Tonight we had the Metea Valley Marching Mustangs marching band banquet.  The kids had a great time, and as usual, had a great time laughing about all the inside joke stuff while all the parents sat there wondering what all the humor was about.  🙂  Angela and I helped out with setting up and serving the food.

8th Grade Band Night at the Game

Tonight the Metea  Valley Marching Mustangs held their 8th grade band night where all the feeder school 8th graders came and participated with the Marching Band.  They played the national anthem, the school fight song, and other pre-game stuff.  They got to come and meet Marching Band members who they will hopefully be playing with next year.  The cool thing about it is that this year it involved Kirstyn!  🙂  She was so excited and practiced the fight song a bunch so she would do well.

Brittany did an outstanding job for their halftime show as well!  They had their best night yet!  Maybe it was because they wanted to show the 8th graders how it’s done!  🙂

Great job girls!  You both performed wonderfully!  When we told Sarah, she was really jealous that she couldn’t be there.  We assured her it was probably a little more thrilling to play in front of 65,000 people than a couple thousand!  🙂

Go Mustangs!

Tri-M Induction

Tonight, Brittany was inducted into the Tri-M Music Honor Society.  She is very excited and enjoys so much her involvement in music in our school district.  We are so grateful that our district focuses so much on the Arts!  Great job Brittany!

Marching Band and Football

Today Brittany performed at the football game with the marching band.  They are getting much better and by the end of the season, they’ll really rock (no pun intended)!  🙂  They did a great job!

She’s loving every minute of Marching Band and as the Pit Section Leader, she is getting some good opportunities to be a leader and make sure everything is coordinated and going well.  Great job Britt!

Kirstyn Honor Choir Audition

Today Kirstyn auditioned for the Still Middle School Honor Choir and feels very good about her performance.  She’s hoping SO bad that she can sing with them this year.  Hopefully all will turn out for the best and she’ll be singing in the top choir soon!

Northwestern Band Day with Metea and BYU Performance

Today Brittany and the Metea Valley Marching Mustangs went to Northwestern to perform in their annual band day halftime show.  I got to go as a chaperone and we all had a really good time.  Free tickets to a Northwestern game ain’t bad.  🙂  The game was in the late afternoon/evening but we got there pretty early so the kids could practice with the Northwestern Band and get ready for the show.

The halftime show was great, with a bunch of bands on the field!

Toward the end of the game, it started getting cloudy and looked like it was going to pour, so we all took off as fast as we could to get the instruments on the buses before the torrents came down.  We just missed getting everything loaded so we all got wet, but we got back safely.  Fun day!

On the BYU side, Sarah performed again today and Mom and Dad Halliday were able to go to the game.  They got some pictures and video of Sarah.

Great job to both of the marching band girls!  You guys rock!

Curriculum Nights

Over the past two nights, we have been at Metea and Still for their curriculum nights.  It’s always fun to meet the kids teachers and to see what they’ll be doing this year.  It also never ceases to amaze me at how good the school district is that we are in.  We are so glad that our kids have the opportunity to have such a high quality education!  We pay through the nose in property taxes, but that’s worth it to us (at least we keep telling ourselves)!  🙂

Best of luck this year kids!  Work hard and you’ll do GREAT!

Labor Day Parade

Today Brittany performed in the Labor day parade with the Metea Valley Marching Mustangs!  She had a fun time and the band looked so great and professional.  They sounded great too!

Everyone was trying to be so serious so we decided to try and make Brittany smile or laugh.  She tried SO hard not to, but we succeeded as you can see above.  🙂  Great job Brittany!  We’re very proud of you!  Happy Labor Day everyone!

Sarah’s First Cougar Football Game

Today was a super exciting day for Sarah!  It was VERY long and tiring, but today she got to play in her first halftime show as a Cougar Marching Band member in the stadium in front of a  huge crowd!  🙂  She was so excited and she said she had a BLAST!  She loves being in the marching band and can’t wait for the rest of the season.  The following was clipped out of the paper by Grandma and Grandpa Halliday…

She’s in that picture of the band somewhere.  🙂  She said the energy (as we already knew) was really high and it was so fun!  And…  the Cougars won the game which just added to the excitement!  🙂  Great job Sarah!  Have a wonderful rest of the season!
